Pakistan Vs West Indies 3rd ODI – 5 October 2016 Full Highlights Dailymotion

pak-vs-west-indies-1st-odi-30-september-2016-watch-live-cricketFrom sacking their head coach hours prior to a major tour, to getting blanked in all five matches played so far in formats they were expected to pose a big threat in, it has all gone wrong for West Indies in the United Arab Emirates. And to make matters worse, they are yet to come up against their biggest challenge on the trip so far when they face Pakistan in the succeeding Test series.

Prior to the two Tests though, they will have another crack at redeeming some pride and more importantly, regaining lost confidence when they take on the hosts in the third and final One-Day International, in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 5). A win especially with contributions from members from the Test side, would do wonders to a team that looks totally demoralised, as the former skipper Dwayne Bravo recently admitted. The reigning ICC World Twenty20 champions never recovered from the nine-wicket loss they suffered in the first T20I and went on to lose the next two as well.

Pakistan carried forward the winning momentum into the ODIs as well. Babar Azam grabbed the opportunity to bat at No.3 with both hands and notched up back-to-back centuries. The home side’s middle order now looks strong with Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed amongst the runs as well. Skipper Azhar Ali, who was under pressure prior to the series after losing in England, registered a couple of single-digit scores and will be looking to spend some time in the middle ahead of the Tests. It will be interesting to see if Umar Akmal is given an opportunity after earning a recall to the 50-overs side. If he is included, Mohammad Rizwan is expected to make way.

Highlights Will be Updated After The Match

The visitors though will primarily be focussing on establishing a decent opening stand. Johnson Charles and Kraigg Brathwaite have failed to deliver in Chris Gayle’s absence with the latter especially struggling to rotate the strike. Brathwaite’s dot-ball percentage will be a cause for concern for the team management and it can tempt them to offer Evin Lewis another chance after his blistering ton against India in the first T20I at Florida.

Only Marlon Samuels and Darren Bravo put up some resistance with the former scoring 103 runs in the two matches so far. All-rounder Kieron Pollard has failed to inspire the team so far on the tour after registering a 20-plus score only on one occasion. If he can fire in the middle order alongside wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin and all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite, West Indies can hope for a whirlwind finish.

When: Pakistan vs West Indies, 3rd ODI on October 5, at 3:00 PM Local time, 4:30 PM IST

Where: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi

What to expect: Another hot day with clear skies on the cards.

Team News

Pakistan: According to reports, Rumman Raees, who made his international debut during the recently concluded T20I series, is expected to replace Mohammad Amir in the playing XI. Amir has returned to Pakistan due to his mother’s illness.

West Indies: Hard-hitting left-hander Evin Lewis could be drafted in to replace one of the openers, which in all likelihood could be Kraigg Brathwaite.

What they said:

“We need to improve our catching to become a better team. We are working hard on fielding. Hopefully, I spend some time in the middle and score some runs in the next game.” – Pakistan captain Azhar Ali is hoping to turn his fortunes around with the bat

“He’s a good player. I felt he played really really nicely. He assessed the conditions quite well and he took his time. He was able to take his time in both innings.” – West Indies skipper Jason Holder on Babar Azam’s back-to-back tons in the ODI series

– Babar Azam can become the third Pakistan batsman, after Saeed Anwar and Zaheer Abbas, to score centuries in three successive ODI innings.
